The 7 Wonders of Nature, Halong Bay in Vietnam

Anyone who intends to visit Vietnam, must make sure to come and visit the work of nature that can be found only in Vietnam, Halong Bay. Halong Bay is a spectacular labyrinth of over 1,600 limestone islands. These awesome sites had been declared by UNESCO as 'WORLD HERITAGE SITE'

This majestic spectacular sites as been told by Geologists that they believed, Halong Bay was created through erosion over a course of 300 million years ago. The area is essentially a seabed of sunken limestone plateau that extends all the way to Guilin in Southern China. The similarities with its Chinese counterpart has even earned it the moniker 'Guilin on the Sea'. The islands are craggy limestone mountains and cliff covered in rich vegetation and most inhospitable, save for gibbons and birds that inhabit this unique ecosystem. There are few isolated floating villages, where people have adapted to life on watery world, relying on tradition boats to move around. They bay, when early in the morning are covered with fog/mist but it majestic view cannot be reduce or hidden from the eyes of people who goes there.

There was a story/legends that says long time ago, in the Gulf of Tonkin, a dragon spewed a mouthful of pearls at an approaching feet of enemy ships. The pearls turned into thousands of limestone islands, creating a fortress that protected Vietnam from invasions. This area of limestone hills and islets, known as 'Halong Bay' is an area covered with beauty and splendor. By the way 'Halong' means 'where the Dragon descends'.
